The first thing you’ll notice about Hell’s Gate is the two massive cliffs that stand as gates to the entry of a cove on the south end of Possum Kingdom Lake. This is a perfect spot for boaters to tie up, relax, party, and have an epic time. This cove area is huge and is filled with boats in the summer, so make sure you arrive early on the Fourth of July weekend to secure your spot. People come from all over Texas to see this fireworks show, and it’s one of a kind – you have to see it in person to believe it. Another must-see event is the the annual Red Bull cliff diving competition. This event is not for the faint of heart and is for professional divers only. As cliff diving is illegal for most of the year, we do not recommend diving from the cliffs, but watching the competition is a must-see!
Hell’s Gate is famous to any boater in Texas. So if you’re looking for an unforgettable day on the lake, make sure you check out Hell’s Gate. Just don’t forget to bring your hat and sunscreen!
